Jeffrey Soester was born in London in 1937- and he says he has a stamp of Edward VIII is on his birth certificate!  He went to school at Grocers’, known in the 1930s and 1940s as the “Eton of the East End”- almost entirely due to the achievements of the large Jewish intake.

He took a degree in English at Leeds University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from London University. Retiring from teaching in 1995, Jeffrey spent the next 16 years as a private tutor, up to, and even beyond the First Degree level.

He and his wife Philippa came to live in Israel in2014, to join their growing family here. Says Jeffrey: “We have not regretted it for a moment. Israel, and Beth Protea (the retirement home where we are living) is where we belong!”
